You are so unique. Did you get that? Did you really understand that sentence? You are so incredibly you which is different than something anyone else in this world can say.
Yes, we all share similarities and likenesses, in fact I believe that anyone has something in common with everyone. It may be something as small and minute as two people liking pizza, or something as substantial as having the same passion, either way I think everyone has something in common with every other person in this world. That being side noted, I’ll go back to my original point.
How much have you given thought to how unique you are from everyone else in the world? Let’s put this in perspective. While not only are you unique in your likes and dislikes, your preferences and styles, your physical appearance and your mental thoughts, the way your mind works and the way you view the outside world, but also in your past experiences.
This is something I did not realize until recently. Yes, we have demographics and psychographics that set us apart from everyone else, but I think our past experiences play one of the biggest roles in what makes us different.
There is not another person in the world that has been exactly where you have been, seen exactly what you have seen or experienced exactly what you have experienced. To me, this is a game changer. Because nobody else has had the same past as you, nobody else has the same knowledge as you.
This makes every individual person so very special because that means there is something to be learned from everyone. While this could all be about how important it is to value every human and give them your attention to learn from them that is not what I am getting at. I’d like to reverse that thought.
My point is not you can learn from everyone but rather you can teach everyone something. Now, for those of you that already have all the confidence in the world, I am not meaning you should go around and point out to people how much knowledge you have and that everyone should immediately drop everything to learn from you. I am simply pointing out the value of every person and the worth everyone possesses whether they realize it or not.
Have you ever heard that people are in your life for a reason? I feel quite certain you have, and some may have even heard the extended version “some are here to stay, others are there to teach a lesson and walk away.” Whichever version you’ve heard, I think it’s very true, but how often have you thought about why you are in someone else’s life? This is another one of those reversed thoughts.
I think we leave some kind of impact on everyone we meet. Obviously the impact I leave on the waitress at lunch won’t be as substantial as the impact I have on my closest friends and family but there was some impact nonetheless.
The thought was recently put into my mind that because we are blessed we should be a blessing to others. I’ve been thinking on this for a while but when I stepped back from it all I wondered what exactly “being a blessing meant”. From what I’ve gathered it is different for everyone.
I think that is why we were all given such different qualities and experiences because obviously that will give us different connections and different opportunities to be a blessing to someone.
So, does the friend you see everyday need a few encouraging words? Does the elderly woman at the grocery store need help carrying bags? Does the family going through hard times need financial help? Does your co-worker need an extra prayer or two lately? You tell me.
You’re the only person who knows the people in your life like you know them. No other person knows the exact facts and situations you know of, what will you do with that information and your influence?
My point of all this is that because of the unique you that you are, you are given an opportunity to affect the people surrounding you daily. My question for you is not only how will you be a blessing but how are you being called to be a blessing based on the situations and people you are surrounded by? Or How can you use your unique experiences, skills and knowledge to make an impact?
